Suryavanshi:

Suryavanshi

According to the Suryavanshi / Ikshvaku vans / Arka vansh / Raghu vansha Puranas, Kshatriya kul is the best of all the Kshatriya clans (Vanshas) of ancient India.  Lord Rama was incarnated in this clan. From the historical point of view, Suryavansh has been a symbol of truth, character, promise, sacrifice, penance and valor.  The dynasty started from Vaivaswat Manu, the supreme son of Lord Surya, is called Suryavansh.  In the Puranas, Vedas texts, the son of Lord Surya is called 'Ark Tanay'.  Suryavansha was expanded by Ikshvaku, son of these Vaivasvata Manu.  Hence, Suryavansh is also called Ikshvakuvansh.  In the Suryavansh (Ikshvaku dynasty) of Ayodhya, Raghu was the supreme king.  The dynasty of the same emperor Raghu is called Raghuvansh or Raghukul.  Thus, it is the only Kshatriya dynasty which is known by the names of Suryavansha, Ikshvaku vansha and Raghuvansh. Later in the same dynasty Mahatma Buddha, Mahavir Jain emerged.

The source of suryavanshi :

The Puranas, especially the Vishnu Purana, the Ramayana composed by Valmiki and the Mahabharata composed of Vyasa, all have details of this dynasty.

Some names of this dynasty are also mentioned in Kalidasa's Raghuvansham.

Ancient Mythological Genealogy :

Indian history is very ancient.  Mythological genealogy is given.  This lineage dates back to the end of Dwapara.  The lists below begin with Manu (the first human) and end at the generation of Lord Krishna.  The entire lineage which is available in the Puranas dates back to the Nanda dynasty.

See that Rama's generation is 65 while Krishna's is 79.  From this one can estimate the period between them.  These generations have been synchronized as much as possible.  According to the ancient Saptarshi Panchang of India, this chronology begins from 7 BC.

There is a lot of knowledge about various Aryan kings of that period from these genealogies.

Ikshvaku Dynasty :

The Ikshvaku dynasty is a dynasty of the rulers of ancient India.  They originated from the Suryavanshis.  He was the king of ancient Kosala country and his capital was Ayodhya.  Many famous rulers of these two dynasty are mentioned in Ramayana and Mahabharata.
