Function Of Computer:

The functions of computer systems and their applications are endless nowadays due to the rapid development of computers.  The processors, commonly called CPUs [Central Processing Unit], as well as the overall development of input, output, and large storage devices computer systems have reached a different level so it is very difficult to classify them.  Here we are going to discuss some basic functionality of computer systems irrespective of their applications, power, size and capacity.

The Four Basic Function of Computer: 

Four basic functions of computer systems are mentioned below.

Computers run at such a high speed that we cannot think, for example, computers can exchange information in less than a millionth of a second. Supercomputers (PARAM) can operate in billion parts of a second.  Initially the data or instructions or information or directions are given to the computer system with the help of the input device and the data is kept in primary memory and later the data is sent to the central processing unit for further operation.  .

When data or instructions are sent to a central processing unit, it performs the following tasks for better computer functionality.

The central processing unit receives its information from primary memory, then decides what type of data it is and what should be the appropriate or appropriate function for the set of instructions, for example the central processing unit should use this data as an ALU (Aritmetic  and logic unit) Arithmetic and logical operations are executed by ALU After the operation is over, the result is stored in ALU [Store]  Is received and after that, data or instructions are sent which can be read by human beings easily.

Input Functions of Computer System:

Information or data is provided to computer systems by means of input devices such as keyboards, mouse, etc.  The information is given to them in a RAW form, later the data is handled or processed and hence we need the help of output devices to get the data in the encoded form.  The input device accepts and transfers external data, is in charge for processing and exchanging instructions and information given.

Once the Central Processing Unit [Central Processing Unit] process is completed or finished, it is sent to the output device in the form of further data, instructions and information such as printer, computer monitor, TFT, LCD, speaker etc .

Outputs can also be stored or stored in a recording medium such as DVDs and hard disks for longer use.

Processing of Computer System: 

It is  Additionally known as the core of computing systems.  When data or information is sent from memory to a personal computer for processing it controls all the activities of the computer to stimulate or achieve the desired output.

Storage Unit of Personal Computer: 

When data or instructions or directions are given to a computer it is kept in primary memory before beginning the actual processing of data and information.  There are two types of storage  i.e. Primary Storage and Secondary Storage. 

Primary storage Or RAM: It is also called as main memory or Random Access Memory ( RAM ).  This is very expensive and they cannot store data when power is off.

RAM (function of computer)

It is an important component for the proper functioning of computer systems. It store data in temporary basis after that data should be stored in ROM .

Secondary Storage Or ROM  : This is called permanent memory. They can store data permanently and users can retrieve their data whenever they want. They can store data when power is off. This is also known as Read Only Memory ( ROM ).
